About
This website is titled “Rantings of a Man Utd Fan” for one good reason - I like guinea pigs! Sorry, but I do. We have 2 guinea pigs, Fudge and Ozzy, both brothers. Sorry, I went off on a tangent there, the reason its titled as it is, is because I am a Man Utd fan. Have been for many years. My grandad got me into Man Utd when I was six years old, and since then I’ve been a supporter, more so in recent years, especially since living with a bunch of footy mad chaps at University.
A bit about me. I went to prep school in Manchester, Cheadle Hulme to be precise until I was thirteen. I reached the dizzying heights of head boy and representated the north west of England in the inter prep schools athletics championships…where I came last in my 100m heat! I think it may have been something to do with the fact that I was the only white chap in the race!
After prep school, my parents moved to Somerset, where I attended school in Wells, attaining my GCSE’s and A-levels there. After school in Wells, I went to University in Wales, Cardiff to be precise, where I studied Accounting. That was my first mistake! What a dull subject! What dull people I had on my course! Luckily there were plenty of interesting people that didn’t study accounts so I managed to have a bloody good time, coming away with what is known as a “drinkers degree”.
After University, I ran a business with my brother doing internet consultancy and marketing. We were very succesful for a time, however all good things come to an end, and when they did, I decided to become an independent mortgage adviser in Bristol. I have been doing this since April 2006, and am really enjoying it.
This website is simply a way of me being creative in a work environment that doesn’t exactly encourage creativity - not since regulation anyway! I’m sure prior to regulation there were many creative’s in the industry, probably explains how bank’s were able to lend to no-hopers who couldn’t afford the borrowing!
I do like to be creative, though I mainly save it for my guitar. I love twiddling away on the old Yamaha. I’ve written a few songs, which at some point I might ad to the site, I’d have to finish them and write some lyrics first though!
Please enjoy the site, post comments about the articles I write, feel free to send in articles as well.
And last but not least, if you need any advice with your finances, please drop me a line.
Regards, Tristan
