The current champions are AC Milan, winning 2-1 to Liverpool in Athens, May 2007. I watched the 2nd half of the match, and even though I’m a Man Utd fan, I still felt gutted that Liverpool lost. I remember watching that amazing match 2 years previously in Istanbul. I was round a friends house, who happens to be a big Liverpool supporter, and feeling gutted at half time when they were 3-0 down.

2nd half came round and by this point I’d already polished off a few pints, which meant I had to take a leak. Bang! Goal number 1 goes in. It was incredible! I didn’t get chance to have a pee, as I heard everyone go nuts about the goal. Once all the back slapping had died down, I went for my pee, only for another goal to go in! I couldn’t believe it. If I remember rightly, I was having a cigarette when the 3rd goal went in! I think I missed every single goal that night, until the penalty shootout.

So for 2008, the Champions League heads to Russia. Wouldn’t Roman Abramovich just love winning it in Moscow? I wonder what the odds are that Chelsea win it next season…
